Hand Therapy

Schuylkill Rehabilitation Center’s Hand Therapy Program uses state-of-the-art technology and specially trained Occupational Therapists to evaluate and treat injuries of the hand and wrist.

Hand Therapy at Schuylkill Rehabilitation CenterHand therapy is available for those who have had an injury or illness that affects the functioning of the hand and wrist. Specially trained therapists and equipment are available to restore functioning to this area of the body, which is so vitally important in completing any daily activity or vocational task.

The therapist will complete a thorough evaluation of the upper extremity including as appropriate areas such as range of motion, strength, coordination, sensation, pain, edema, functional use, and wound / scar assessment. Treatment is designed to each individual and may include physical agent modalities, range of motion exercises, strengthening exercises, sensory reeducation, wound /scar management, edema control, pain management, and / or splinting. The specially trained occupational therapists are proficient with both static and dynamic splinting.

Our therapists work closely with the referring physicians and /or surgeons to provide a team approach to the rehabilitation of the hand.

Schuylkill Rehabilitation Center is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists.
